Gemstone and Metal Blog Hop

I signed up to do the Gemstone and Metal blog hop hosted by Lisa at Pine Ridge Treasures.   We each purchased a kit from her for the hop.  Mine had really some pretty sunflower metal beads, a clasp, and 4 different shapes of beautiful black lined jasper.  Of course, I forgot to take a picture of the beads before I started.  I went through a few false starts and finally decided to do a long necklace.

I added some flower beads and light pink crystals from my stash.  The leaf clasp and the oval sunflower beads are also from the kit. I also did a bracelet with some blue crystals from my stash, I like the way they contrast with the jasper.

Here is a picture of the two together.

Thanks for visiting, please take a look at what the other participants created with their beads:

  1. I love your long necklace. Those beads make a great statement. The blue crystals give your bracelet a great punch of color and contrast.

  2. The long necklace is beautiful and the use of crystal in contrast with the roughness of stones, gives your pieces a very sophisticated and feminine look.

  3. I also really like how the blue crystals look with the stones in the bracelet. I'm very into long necklaces right now as well. It's a great look. I love how you used the different shapes and sizes of jasper in the necklace, and all the different striations give it a lot of visual interest along with the crystals and metal.

  6. Hi Kim, Great job on your pieces. The pink crystals really frame the jasper well in your necklace. The blue in the bracelet makes a statement too.

  10. Both pieces are lovely - the pink keeps the necklace very soft and feminine and the blue is such a great contrast to the stones.

  15. The pink crystals do a great job of softening the strong lines black in the jasper, and I love the length! We had the same stone, but took different paths in our creation -- it's great to see what others did isn't it!

  16. Beautiful! We had the same gemstone and it is interesting to see how you approached them. I love the necklace and how you used your metal beads to work with the different sized stones.

  20. Kim . . . I really enjoyed reading your blog and knowing that someone else makes multiple efforts before stumbling upon their finished design. I admire your tenacity! The necklace in particular caught my eye because, despite it being long and made out of many hard and larger materials, it has a beautiful sense of flow and softness to it. It takes real artistry to make the design speak like that! Keep up the great work!
