Ocean Blog Hop

Lisa at A Grateful Artist - Pine Ridge Treasures is hosting the Ocean Blog Hop.  I love Lisa's hops, she always sends us a great selection of beads to go with the theme. Let me show you what she sent me for this one....
I have to confess, Orange is really not one of my favorite colors, so this was a bit of a challenge for me.  But once I started I couldn't stop, and I had a lot of nice cultured sea glass from Lisa's destash group to use with these beads.  I ended up with a necklace, 2 pairs of earrings and 3 bracelets.

Here is a close up of the necklace
And a shot of the back
For this one, the white beads were from the hop, the rest are from my Lisa stash.

Here are the first pair of earrings, using the bronze metal pieces:

Second pair of earrings, using some of the orange cultured seaglass:

Dreamsicle bracelet, everything but the larger white beads and the clasp was from the hop package:

My 2nd bracelet (couldn't come up with a name for this one). The clasp and the blue cultured seaglass were from my Lisa stash:

And the sunset bracelet, it just makes me think of the sun setting on the water.  This is my favorite piece and was hard to photograph, so I've got two pictures for you.  The orange crystals, cultured seaglass, bronze spacers and clasp were from the hop package.

I need names for the necklace, one bracelet and both sets of earrings.  If you have any ideas let me know.  We took the pictures using a photo tent for the first time and I think that it helped a lot.  I am not good at taking pictures, so I need all the help I can get.

Please visit the other participants to see what they did with their beads, and come back to Lisa's blog on June 14th to see the 2nd reveal!

  1. I love all your creations, representing so many aspects of the ocean, but I have to admit your last bracelet is my absolute favorite, the purple, orange and green are just perfect together.

  2. Your ocean creations are wonderful. I love orange! The starfish earrings are so cute! I think the last bracelet is my favorite because of the colors. But your necklace is so elegant, and everything is so nice.

  3. Beautiful! I especially love that last bracelet, and the starfish earrings.

  4. Wow these are so good. I hope some day I will get this good. Good ideas on displaying things.

  5. Lovely....I really love those earrings and your bracelets are delightful.

  6. I like the sea star earrings the best. This looks like a really fun hop. I'm glad you got to be a part of it.

  7. Kim, I love all your designs! I used to be intimidated by orange, but now I just love how it sparks things up :)

  8. Starfish earrings are so cute and the orange seagrass really makes them pop. My favorite is the last bracelet because of all the colors.

  9. Kim-I especially like your earrings!

  10. I was surprised when I got orange too but it was great to see you embrace it and come up with some wonderful designs. I really love your bracelets, especially the last one.

  11. Wow, wonderful creations. It is great to have some extra seaglass from Lisa's destash events. I used some starfish beads in my bracelet. I love the Dreamsicle bracelet, because you can't go to the beach without having ice cream. Dreamsicles were my fav as a kid!

  12. Fun mix of colors and love the placement of starfish charms. And love how you displayed the earrings. Orange starfish earrings are my favorite. Sorry for stopping by so late but I was having computer problems. My post is now up with all the links.

  13. I'd call the orange and aqua one 'underwater coral' I love your pieces! They are amazing. I hope you will visit me on the 14th!

  14. I'm a lover of orange. It's nice to see other designers get out of their elements. I love the simplicity of the orange sea glass starfish earrings. A wonderful under the sea selection of sea glass that you received.

  15. Don't laugh - I love the blue and green necklace! I know, I know - only the white beads were from the ocean kit. I love the way you combined the orange with other colors. Beautiful designs!

  16. I love your pieces they are beautiful!

  17. Orange is a challenge, I like how you worked with it. The orange starfish earrings and the dreamsicle bracelet are my favorites.

  18. I always love to get a color I am not comfortable with, really makes me step outside my comfort zone. You did an excellent job!

  19. You got some great pieces. I love that orange. It really pops and you used it well setting it and the other beads/glass off nicely. The necklace is very pretty and I love that last bracelet with all the color in it. Very nice.

  20. You've created some stunning ide pools! Love the beach glass with the brass. Lovely work.
